About Stacie (Saraswati)
Stacie (Hindu name: Saraswati, Goddess of the arts and learning) started belly dancing in 1996. The passion grew stronger when introduced to American Tribal Style belly dance in New Mexico which led to ongoing training at Fat Chance Belly Dance in San Francisco. Since then she has also studied with Jill Parker (tribal fusion) and other bay area instructors. In 2007 Stacie performed in New Mexico with Megan Martin’s tribal belly dance troupe. Most recently taking a yoga and bellydance intensive with Rachel Brice, Stacie continues to dance weekly. Stacie now dances with the Rasa Rhythm Dancers and Goddess Rising troupes in marin.
Teaching yoga since 1994 (www.sunlightyoga.com), and more recently “Intro to Belly Dance” at the Presidio YMCA, Stacie’s love of teaching and belly dancing is apparent. Being a Khalsa Way Certified Prenatal Instructor (Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan), a trained prenatal massage therapist and now offering prenatal belly dance at the new Parents Center, Stacie is thrilled to share the joys of belly dance as a tool for empowerment, health and overall well being for women and childbirth.
